Arsenal have placed a £35m asking price on Manchester City transfer target Alexis Sanchez, a fee City are unwilling to pay for a player out of contract in the summer.
Reports claim that Manchester City’s move for Sanchez has taken a turn for the worst, as the Gunners’ asking price has put the light blues off of doing a deal now.
This is a dangerous game City are playing, as rivals Manchester United are hoping to secure the player, meaning Pep Guardiola’s side may miss out.
Man City fans have taken to Twitter to share their thoughts on the situation, providing rather mixed opinions on the transfer saga…
Manchester City are understood, according to the BBC, to have made an offer of £20m Alexis Sanchez in an attempt to sign the player this month.
However, Arsenal are demanding a fee of £35m for the player, more than what City are willing to pay given the Chilean’s contract situation at the Emirates.
The North Londoners are demanding such a fee so as they can replace their talisman and with the understanding that United are willing to pay big money for the player.
Although, in Guardiola’s favour is the fact that the forward is believed to prefer a move to the Etihad over Old Trafford, meaning City know they can secure the move now, for cheaper, or in the summer, on a free, if Sanchez rejects offers from Jose Mourinho.
Haha now this is what I like to see… you can’t mug City off and hold them to ransom @Arsenal . We are 15 points clear and still in all four competitions. We would like @Alexis_Sanchez but we don’t NEED him. https://t.co/fusmEuPFAH

City calling the bluff of Arsenal and Sanchez’s agent – good for @ManCity. The ball’s in Alexis’ court – he decides who he wants to join – is it Pep & trophies or Jose and a few dollars more? #Sanchez #MCFC

End of the day , if Sanchez really wants to play for City he’ll wait till the summer. If he goes to United it proves fully that he’s after money. If that’s the case in my opinion we’ve dodged a bullet . It’s up to Alexis , Pep / City or Utd / money ⚽️ or 💰

Excellent City playing tough over Sanchez. He’s out of contract in 18 league games, a league we are 15 points clear in. He can wait til summer or we move onto someone younger n longer term then.

‘Get the deal done now…’
So, if the deal for Sanchez goes through as expected, at £30m, City have effectively ‘loaned’ Sanchez to Arsenal for 4 months, at a cost of £35m! Wow! An absolute bargain in every way. Get the deal done, a world class talent. #thekidwantsit #Pepaffect #MCFC

Will be absolutely fucking fuming if we don’t go through with the Sanchez deal over 10 fucking million. Sanchez is supposedly ‘desperate’ to join City then all of a sudden we adopt the Spurs transfer policy. Fuck this shit.

FWIW – Even £35m is cheap for Sanchez (out of contract in the summer or not).
Going to cost #mcfc a lot more to sign an alternative in the summer

Forget his contract is up in the summer City, he actually is worth £35m…
Please just pay the money…
Then he’s ours for years to come 💙#Sanchez #MCFC
