Emery bemoans first half performance after Arsenal’s loss to City

Unai Emery has criticised the way his side played in the first half of Arsenal’s opening defeat to Manchester City.
Goals from Raheem Sterling and Bernardo Silva gave the Premier League champions a 2-0 victory over Emery’s Arsenal.
Speaking after the game, Emery confirmed his dissatisfaction with his side’s first half performance, but said he was happy with their reaction after the break.
“The result was 2-0 but I think on the pitch over the 90 minutes we were getting better.

“The first half we didn’t play like we wanted. We spoke at half-time about taking more responsibility for the second half, to do a little more.
“We wanted to build with the ball and break their lines. I think in the second half we played more like we want.”
After the loss to Man City, it’s another tough test for Arsenal next week, as they face Chelsea away from home.
